Work more on Getac V100 with UltraCell’s methanol fuel cells

Traditional 6-cell laptop batteries are not only a curse for the environment but also don’t give that much that you often need to complete your work. UltraCell Corporation seems to be working to improve things and that too in a much eco-friendly way. The company has developed a new XX25 reformed methanol fuel cell (RFMC) that meets the power requirements for the Getac V100 rugged Tablet PC.

The company claims that the fuel cell can power the tablet for 12-18 hours of continuous work, which is close to a 300% improvement over tradition Li-Ion batteries. The XX25 Fuel cell weighs around 2.73 pounds and plugs into the same port as the V100’s power adapter.

The fuel cell also is a major boon especially for the V100 because the V100 convertible notebook that is optimized for military applications and extreme environments. These environments demand a battery that should be able to run it for a much longer time than the machines used at home or offices.
