Hay Tor Rocks is visited by thousands of people every year. But, unfortunately it is not that easy an expedition for disabled people to reach the top of Dartmoor’s this one of most popular tors.
Artist Alex Murdin plans to instill 30ft solar powered stair lift for the disabled. Along with this, the artist also plans to install a 500-metre, zig zag granite pathway that links a car park to the stair-lift, thus enabling those in wheelchairs to reach the Hay Tor Rocks smoothly and easily in an eco-friendly way.
Though the plan is not yet sanctioned and is a controversial one, if successful, it can help save a huge amount of electricity, the stair-lift getting powered by the sun.
