Washington’s ASLA goes ‘literally’ green with its rooftop

The trend towards environmentally-friendly technology is growing in leaps and bounds. Here is a new “green” roof made by an architectural organization for itself. Washington’s American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) building makes its rooftop leafy to help keep not only temperatures low but also to filter air, and absorb rainwater, lessening the burden on sewers.

Though building this ASLA green roof costs $946,000 (€761,400), the organization says that two-thirds of this budget went to make access to this showcase roof!

Werthmann said, The ASLA roof is only 3,000 square feet and to have people and plants together in that amount of space is unique.
