Volcano-shaped soccer stadium

It has become a trend to design buildings which are eco-friendly and energy efficient. These type of buildings are actually necessary as they make our planet greener, cleaner and healthier. Two French architects, Jean-Marie Massaud and Daniel Pouzet have designed a unique volcano-like soccer stadium in Guadalajara city, Mexico.

This stadium has been created especially for the Chivas team and it is covered with greenery. Additionally, it is also a wonderful example of an energy-efficient building.

The striking feature of this building is that its exteriors mimic a volcano, but its actual function is to capture rainwater that can later be used to water the pitch. It also has a white membrane on the top that looks like a cloud above the volcano-like building. The other features include energy-efficient lights, a large area having 45,000 seats and a naturally ventilated parking area with 8,500 parking spaces.

Intelligent architecture like this should be actually encouraged, as it helps preserving our ecosystem and at the same time allows people to enjoy natural beauty.
