Eco-friendly transportation just got a new name: The VeloDisco. And besides being careful of the environment, as the name auggests, the commute promises oodles of fun. This art vehicle was the central point of attraction at Burning Man 2007.
The vehicle is bicycle-powered and thus, is 100% safe for the environment. Moreover, the entire ‘yacht’ has been made out of recycled materials. Even the lights and sounds are solar-powered. However, that doesn’t mean it compromises on capability. It can comfortably carry as many as 30 people at a time. There is more. The vehicle, which might strike one as a few pieces of paper and cardboard stuck on a few pairs of bicycles, is actually double-deckered, boasting of a viewing deck! Thanks to its simple design, it is light enough to enable as few as 5 bicyclists to pedal 30 people at top speed! Wait till you hear this… the ‘pedal-powered mass trsnsit’ actually has an adjoining bar to make your journey more fun!
It can give an altogether new dimension to an outing with pals–be it heading off for a picnic, or geared to lapping up the sand and surf on the beach or ‘acting mad’ just for the heck of it. And if people stare at you, or at your ‘yacht’, which they surely would, ask them to join you in the noble cause of saving the environment, in a super-fun way!
