If a large tree in your garden is getting in the way or it simply is too old to yield enough greens, then you have an option of adding an artistic twist to the old bark. It is believed that wood marked with an effigy, carving or containing naturally appearing images is considered very good luck. Artist Bruce Hebert is dedicated to rendering some good luck to your garden, too, as he is skilled to sculpt trees into exceptional pieces of art. And mind you, it has nothing to do with slaughtering the greenery around you. Carving in live trees does not harm them, as the bark is not removed all the way around. The sap flow is not cut off as it’s just like cutting off a branch. 
All that is needed is a coating of wood sealer after the carving is complete to keep out any contaminants and one every few years after that. As the tree grows the spirit will age, the bark will close in on the edges, and small cracks will give it a look of its own. I am very impressed by the soldier and the Victorian girl.
