Treasure Island – World’s most ecological city

treasure island

Treasure Island, no, don’t try to imagine gold chests but it is the recent muse of San Francisco, lies on north side of San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. The former Naval base is a 400-acre island, entirely man made, yet, deserted property has finally come to the notice of state authorities. Plans are already in the pipe line to make use of this land for better purposes than just letting it look derelict with its old oil tanks, ghostly ruined buildings and giant out of use electrical transformers.

The entire place looks ruined and dilapidated land will soon be rebuilt to swell with a next generation look. There would be structures that comply with power and water conservation, with higher waste management and effective living. The age when cities are being crowded with the growing populous, and when providing roof over each head is a challenge, this place will try to show case the ideal way of living.

The infrastructure will be given much importance to get the best out of wind and solar power. Not only this, the plans if taken seriously will provide a new way to the world of having a living space with no less or zero waste, with the waste being composited and reused as fertilizers. Sounds like quite an amazing plan.

The Treasure Island stands on rock solid ground made with 287,000 tons of quarried rock deposited on the seabed. This superfund site is expected to house about 13,500 people, with everything optimized to get the best. The dream is to make this the most ecological city of the world. The need for such living spaces is extremely desirable.

If we have got technology then why not use it to get ready for the future? This will prove to be an ideal spot to visualize the future of optimized living we are fast marching into.
