Eco Factor: Fuel saving engine technology boosts efficiency.
While all major automakers are developing new cars that run on alternative sources of fuel, a startup company Transonic Combustion is working to better the efficiency of gasoline-powered vehicles with a new engine technology. The company is claiming to have developed an ultra-efficient fuel injection system that would cost as much as high-end fuel injection systems currently on the market but will deliver an efficiency of 64mpg.
The system preheats and pressurizes gasoline before injecting it into the combustion chamber. This process places gasoline into a supercritical state that allows for very fast and clean combustion. This process reduces the amount of fuel required to run the vehicle. Gasoline is also treated with a catalyst to further enhance combustion. The injection system doesn’t require any spark to ignite the fuel as well.
Proprietary software has also been developed by the company that allows the system to adjust the fuel injection precisely depending on engine load.
