Eco Factor: Toyota plans low-emission hybrid sports cars.

Toyota has announced its plans to develop sporty hybrid vehicles that will be based on the hybrid drivetrain that is being used in the Prius and Auris HSD models. The company also stated that their versatile petrol-electric hybrid system will also find its way into new models as part of the company’s plan to have a hybrid in every range by 2020.

Toyota will not be developing a new system for future hybrids, as the current version is flexible and can be given more character for upcoming “sporty” hybrids. With proven reliability and cost advantages, the company’s 1.8-liter petrol/electric system could be upgraded to develop a sport hybrid to rival the Honda CR-Z.
