Toyota 2000 SR : The Next Generation Bio-Fuel Car

toyota

The 2000 SR is a concept designed by a company dubbed “SURE Design” and it pays tribute to (the mythic) Toyota’s classic 2000GT, considered to be the first Japanese Supercar.

The Inspiration:

Two coupes had been transformed into drop tops for the sake of the 1967 James Bond film, “You Only Live Twice”. And that’s exactly what inspired the Japanese company into creating a 2000GT Cabriolet replica based on the Mazda Miata / MX5, which they call, Hiroshi.

The Underlying Theme:

The modern version of the 2000GT is designed as a two-seater coupe powered by a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 600Hp 3.5-liter V6 turbo unit (front mid-engine position) that runs on bio fuels with rear wheel transmission for circuits and race tracks, and a second front-mounted electric motor capable of independently driving the front wheels. The electric motor is designed to be used around cities or countryside in pollution free mode, at moderate speeds.

Features:

The new SR silhouette is defined by its expansive bonnet, which houses the engines. The wrap-around cockpit and wheel arches sit on voluminous sides, which give it a robust aspect. The compact, fluid and aerodynamic body gives it the impression of being straight out of Hollywood. The roof falls off abruptly and the rear of the car, shortened to improve aerodynamic efficiency, ends with a single piece. The wheel rims, light and technical, seem to move even when stationary. The body, which is composed of a scarcity of pieces, highlights its uniquely styled doors which provide access to the passenger area and boot, glass surfaces are kept to a minimum with weight saving in mind.

Plus Points:

The two-seater hybrid coupe is light, sensible and is snazzy in appearance. It’s the perfect blend of sleek design and advanced technology. It’s elegant. It’s exquisite. It’s amazingly agile. It’s, to sum up, a beauty.
