Eco Factor: Sustainable townhouse complex designed to maximize energy conservation.
Brett Blacklow of Earth Spirit Home has designed a new townhouse complex at Redbank Plains, which is the first complex in South East Queensland to achieve six star energy rating for residential buildings. The complex features 18 townhouses that include several energy saving systems including a master switch that turns off all standby appliances when the residents leave the house.
Developed my Met Developments, the residential complex also includes passive heating and cooling systems to reduce the overall energy consumption of the buildings. The designs produce 90 percent less water, 40 percent less emissions and have 38 percent less embodied energy than traditional buildings.
