As I start writing this, I myself will be the first one to shrug my shoulders and say “Big deal, tell me something I do not know”. But then to be dismissive of something is very easy, so I’ll allow you the easy part. Now if I can have you back, then here is the “not so latest” yet “not so popular” technology of solar watches. Now all of us love to have a nice cool collection of watches. To each his own brand, so I will not even discuss about what brand needs to be adorned by your wrist.
I for one have always believed that changing batteries in my watch is a big issue. It is not something I really take to doing as I’m a pretty lazy soul. In fact, at a point I even gave up wearing one as I had my mobile which showed time whenever I needed. But then we all have to give in to the temptation & get the next new model around.
Solar watches are great in this respect that you will never have to worry about the battery. All you need to do is get them charged & every time you run out of charge (which could be once in few months), you have an excuse to hit the beach. They look as cool as normal collection of watches. I always maintain that any reduction in the usage of batteries, big or tiny, is always welcome. Hence this watch is a good way to start your ‘environment conscious collection’.
I still suggest that, if you happen to like the design, buy an “eco-drive” from Citizen. The company claims that the watches run on the vibration of your body! That is damn cool to have & very eco-friendly. It sure is a collection of watches with the apt name!
