Thailand is to enjoy soon the production and use of biodiesel from palm-oil. To develop, produce and promote this, PTT Public Company and Charoen Pokphand Group have signed an initial agreement. PTT is a state-owned oil firm of Thailand and Charoen Pokphand Group is a leading agro-industrial and foods conglomerate.
The growing process will be looked after by CP. It will also help encourage farmers in growing palm trees. PTT along with CP would set up biodiesel production plants. The plants will have a capacity of 100,000 liters per day (26,420 gallons US per day or 9.6 million gallons US per year).
The project will cost around Bt1-2 billion (US$26.3-52.5 million).
