Eco Factor: Eco-friendly museum that houses more than 2,000 trees.

What in your opinion is the best place for all the precious things? A museum, of course! So, how about a museum for planet-saving trees, after all they too are valuable. Chad Oppenheim and Swiss landscape architect Enzo Enea have come up with a brilliant idea of world’s first tree museum. Located in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland, the beautiful dwelling for trees will function both as a museum and as the headquarters for Enea’s firm.

The Tree Museum that will house more than 2,000 trees on the grounds of a 14th century monastery will open its doors for the public on June 14. Oppenheim Architecture + Design has incorporated sustainably sourced local lumber, green roofs and geothermal system for the main building of the headquarters that has room for a showroom, classroom and workshop.

The Tree Museum will have trees as high as 40 feet tall and as old as 130 years. Spread over 2.5 acres area, the museum has as many as 22 tree species, including English yew and Scotch pine. Let’s hope this green initiative motivates a few more people across the globe.
