Eco Factor: 400MW solar power plants to be set on public land and building rooftops in GSND.

SunEdison, the solar energy development subsidiary of MEMC Electronic Materials has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Gyeongsangnam-do, a province in southeast Korea to establish solar plants capable of generating 400 megawatts of clean electricity. The photovoltaic modules of the plants will be installed on public land and building rooftops in Gyeongsangnam-do.

This new project is being seen as a significant step towards GSND’s target of 15% renewables by 2030. The agreement is also expected to stimulate the local economy by creating more than 1,500 jobs in the province. All the solar plants are scheduled for completion in 2013.
