Sub-Biosphere 2: Self-sustainable underwater habitat

sub 1

Eco-Factor: Self-sustaining underwater city carries on life support systems.

Inspired by the Biosphere 2 project in the USA, UK-based designer Phil Pauley has designed Sub-Biosphere 2 as self sustainable marine habitat. The underwater city consists of eight living biomes surrounding a large central biome which houses equipment for sustaining all the life support systems such as air, food, water, electricity and other resources through an innovative control of variant atmospheric pressure at all the depths including the ocean floor. The smaller eight biomes on the exterior provide people with space for living and growing food. The biosphere also serves as a seed bank and can remain afloat or submerge into the ocean.
