Street-legal electric mod bike made for $2000

I’m not exactly so sure what’s driving the fuel prices up internationally but I do know that it’s emptying out my bank accounts none the less. I’m just glad some very hard working and innovative modders are still out there creating affordable bike mods that even we the ordinary gas-guzzling folk can make at home. Ben Nelson is one such bike lover and his electric motorcycle is just fab. The thing looks very bit as good as the original while giving you the fuel economy equivalent of 300mpg. Ben got the original bike for $100 and replaced the engine for a $500 Briggs and Stratton 8HP DC motor he found on eBay. He later added four $160 Optima Yellowtop lead-acid batteries for power and now he can cruise around on his fav mod at top speeds of 45mph with a 20 mile range. Sure that doesn’t seem like a lot, but hey, at least it saves you a hell lot on gas! Check out Ben’s demo vid after the jump.
