Back in school, we used to have an activity called “stuff from waste”. That is what I am reminded of when I ventured on this idea. De Zeen, a design magazine featured this yarn made out of old news papers. Greetje van Tiem, a graduate from the academy’s Man and Leisure department, came up with this paper-yarn.
She presented this project called Indruk at the Design Academy Eindhoven graduation show. The yarn can be woven into carpets, curtains and upholstery. Van Tiem claims she can make twenty yards of yarn from each newspaper page. For a short-term usage, at almost nil cost you can not imagine a better thing of utility. To top it all your curtains and upholsteries made from this paper yarn stands out from the rest. Your visitors’ admiration and appreciation comes free.
