The entire world is going the green way not only as they feel that they would be contributing something towards the world but also have finally understood that such a transformation also helps them. While most alternate sources of energy are generally deemed not very efficient, if we know how to harness & store the energy present in the elements, they truly are more reliable than conventional sources. While it might be almost impossible to base every power supply on a singular source of alternate energy & expect it to be available 24/7 all year round, a wise mix of they alternate sources is the solution.
The South Gare Lighthouse present on the mouth of the River Tees, located in south east England has decided to go the green way. Instead of deriving the power for its light, that has guiding ships since long, from the traditional power sources, it has shifted to a fuel cell powered light. The light that guides mariners even at a distance of 25km has shifted to a fuel ell powered light & this has in fact made the lighthouse more reliable than before.
The harsh weather on the south east coast of England causes interruption in power supply to the lighthouse, once in a while. This new fuel cell solves this problem of interruption of power supply & can withstand the harsh climate & the rough seas. Since it is obviously not affected by the weather, it solves many problems of maintenance. Here is an example of how ‘green fuel’ is not only eco-friendly but is also is more advantageous than traditional sources. I wonder why tidal energy of the rough seas is not used to power all the light houses of the world.
