Eco Factor: Solar-powered LED display doubles as a solar blind.
The SolPix by Simone Giostra & Partners Architects is the latest innovation in the field of façade architecture that not only provides solar shielding but also serves as a giant media wall. The heavy duty blinds automatically arrange themselves according to the strength of the sun. The system is equipped with photovoltaic panels that gather energy to create a media façade using onboard LED lights.
The system also monitors its own performance and visualizes it in motion graphics that play across the façade. The architecture firm hopes that this giant prototype will be deployed by those who want their buildings to be both green and trendy.
