Solar, wind powered spinning streetlights

spinning streetlights

Streetlights have become common all over the world, be it a developing nation or vice-versa. The difference is that the developed world is emphasizing on using renewable energy (solar, wind etc) whereas the developing world can just follow their footsteps. You may have come across many attractive streetlights in your locality, but try beating this one from the tech world (Japan). The picture above is of a solar and wind powered streetlight called the ‘seagull’. The power reservoir is the battery at the base of the light pole. Solar panels takes the center stage during day time and the spinning wind turbines are for the night. Check out the video after the jump.
