Wow! This is truely an environment and health friendly alternative to using herbicides – it is a ‘robot‘ that does all the jobs of the contaminating, poisonous weed killing herbicides being used on crop-beds.
Besides drastically reducing herbicide use on crops, it is also powered by the sun. The solar-powered robot has 20/20 vision and can rigorously search and destroy weeds.
It will soon be doing its job of significantly reducing herbicide use at the experimental fields at the University of Illinois.
The robot navigates with the help of GPS. And two small cameras are mounted on a frame on top of the machine for giving the robot depth perception, as a human can.
