Though Solar Cells have harnessed the sun’s energy to make power, the solar cells haven’t necessarily used the most eco friendly construction methods. Now, California based BioSolar has decided to infuse some green technology into the solar cells by replacing all the non biodegradable plastic parts with biodegradable nature friendly components. For this, BioSolar has used crystalline and amorphous silicon to make the substrate and superstrate thus eliminating the previously used petroleum based plastics. This in turn makes the solar panels cost effective and planet friendly. Cost per watt too goes down to make solar energy cheaper. If this technology could be condensed to make it powerful and small enough to fit the roofs of todays cars, we might soon have solar technology becoming a viable fuel for the ever increasing automobiles.
