With soaring electricity bills and increasing concerns about toxic-batteries heading for the landfills across the globe, the Glow Lamp has come up with a solution towards these environmental problems. This is no ordinary lamp.
Conceptualized by Yong Jieyu, the Glow Lamp is designed to be fueled by electrolyte liquids, such as sports drinks or, in the designer’s vision, soda or beer. To help receive power via fuel cells in the lamp, the lampshade is made from a sheet of electroluminescent material that extracts electrons from the electrolyte liquid.
Simply pour a little of your beverage into the lamp’s cup when watching your favorite program on the TV or treating your guests with dinner. Isn’t it cool!
