Eco Factor: Sustainable building design with vertical gardens creates its own ecosystem.

Architect Hans Hollein of Vienna has designed a high-rise office tower for Shenzhen, China that bespeaks reformed lifestyle and sustainability.

The square building with an overall height of 200 meters features two different zones of 5 to 6 floors each which repeat, alternating 3 and 4 times. The highly sculptured floors integrated with vertical gardens create an ecosystem. It enhances the buildings’ outer appearance besides allowing natural ventilation of the interiors and bringing the inhabitants closer to nature. The tower has a skirt building at its base with an entrance area, a public business hall and a high-class restaurant.
