Shawn Smith, an Austin-based artist is behind these stunning animal sculptures that bring pixels into the real world. He beautifully transforms two-dimensional images into three-dimensional sculptural representations of animals and objects of nature. This brilliant artist finds images of his subjects online and then builds them pixel-by-pixel using man-made composites and recycled materials.
The building blocks for Smith’s 3D pixel creations are 3/4 inch cubes that are sliced from sheets of plywood, then colored and glued together to depict any animal. These blurry art creations look a lot of fun to me. In case you haven’t had enough of the exquisite creation, visit the artist’s website.
