Shark-Shaped Submarine: It helps demystify the notion that great white sharks are ruthless killers

latest cousteau star vehicle

This is not a shark you are seeing in the picture – but a vehicle to deceive the shark of mistaking it to be one of its sibling. It is a submarine shaped like a shark. Underwater explorations can go without scurrying the big-fish in their environment.

Thanks to the Paris-born, New York-based explorer, Fabien Cousteau. The creation of the submarine cost more than U.S. $100,000. Designed to look and move as much like a real shark, the contraption is 14-foot-long (4.3-meter-long).

The underwater vehicle can carry a single passenger, fitting inside lying down. He has to stay propped up on elbows to navigate and observe. With an environmental concern, Cousteau used the submarine for documenting that the great white sharks are neither ruthless, nor mindless killers.
