Share: Solar-powered super community center promotes interaction

Community Computing Center concept

What you see before you is a one of its kind ‘super community computing centre’ called Share. This eye catching, soothing blue and white honeycomb structure has more functions than one. Made of numerous white hexagonal cells, it is designed to create an open environment for the community users, who shall gather at this hub to either exercise or indulge in face-to-face exchange of ideas, opinions and thoughts. While it looks heavy and complex, the designer assures us it is light, portable and is in fact in the shape an ordinary container that can be easily taken or transported anywhere via a truck.

So what exactly are these cells that make this creation possible? According to the designer, Zhufei Zhufei from China, a cell actually a kind of a simple computing unit which can either work independently or together, to do data computing work and storage. Hence, these cells can be used, both in Share community mode and singly in ordinary PC mode. Interestingly, half the power needed to run these cells is to be derived from the sun and other half is to be gotten from ‘human-driven gymnastic apparatuses’.

Further Zhufei, also spots other potential uses of this Share computing center. He explains, “The manufacturer may use Share as a sale and display platform. The cell in Share includes user entrusted products as well as other products for sale. After paying for the goods, the user will be automatically distributed a cell and a ID, and then he can log in and get service by way of television and mobile phone and enjoy a computing capacity much more powerful than PC that is dynamically distributed according to his real need”.

Clearly worried about the impact of technology on the environment, Zhufei ensures his cells are equally useful post recycling. According to him, if used in the Share mode, the cells can be easily recycled and reused by the facilitator uniformly. And if used under the single PC mode, his cells can be easily taken part, as the main board of the computer and its box are joined with buckles only, so the user can easily remove the main board without struggling or using any kind of tool on it.

The empty hexagonal shells of the cells can be put to use as anything you desire or imagine including a flat flower disc, or a box to hold your odds or even jewelry, as an ashtray or even as construction material to build everything from roofs, roads to houses.
