Eco Factor: Zero-emission electric kart made from recycled materials.

A team of year 6 students at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Primary School in Bedwell, Stevenage have created an electric kart, dubbed the EREK – Eco Recycled Electric Kart. The zero-emission vehicle is powered by an electric engine. The student team used materials including old school furniture, old bicycle and angle iron donated by The Wheels Project.

The project marshal, Roy Prendergast, stated that the main point behind this project is to get the children thinking about how things work. The EREK project has also entered into the Hertfordshire Green Awards 2010.
