There are people who craft great cold metal statues of trash and use almost everything to make something spectacular and special. What Robert Bradford does might not be great art or something that is going to stand by the Picasso or the Leonardo in terms of sheer genius of it. But then, not everybody can be those men and that is precisely the reason why they are placed where they are in the pecking order of the world of arts and crafts. But Robert at least creates something out of kindergarten crap, which is again more suited as play stuff for the tiny tots.
As fun as Robert’s art might appear, it still does plenty of good for the planet. All that colorful plastic that Robert uses to craft his dog, man or that not so deadly AK-47 could all so easily have been in the dumps and creating absolute havoc when it comes to disposal. It would need extra space in the landfill and it would a take about a few million years to disintegrate completely. So what Robert does might not be outstanding but is very, very useful to say the least.
It is nice to look up to great men for inspiration. But sometimes it is not the great works that influence and change our lives; it is the little stuff that alters it a lot more. Sure CERN can go on and build a multi-billion dollar particle accelerator for its study or you can send a craft to explore mars, but for you and me it is the simple Telephone invented by one great mind that proves more important. This is in no way to degrade the extraordinary achievements by the few, but just paying the dew to the ones who got the simple stuff right. Robert Bradford is one of those.
