Eco Factor: Zero-emission concept vehicle powered by electric motors.
Renault has unveiled its next-gen electric supercar the DeZir, which will be showcased at 2010 Paris Motor Show. The vehicle represents an entirely new design direction for Renault and provides a glimpse of the company’s future production cars.
Powering the vehicle is a fully electric drivetrain consisting of an electric motor place in the mid-rear position for optimal weight distribution. The batteries are located behind the seats and the electric drivetrain generates about 147hp of power and 226Nm of torque.
Though the top speed of the vehicle is just about 112mph, the vehicle shoots to 60mph in just five seconds. In order to boost energy efficiency and better the vehicle’s range, the design team focused on keeping the vehicle’s weight to a minimum, which was achieved by including a Kevlar body, and a tubular steel frame.
The interiors are just as striking as the exteriors, with a clearly split driver and passenger zone. The passenger is met with a very clean and smooth dashboard and the driver is seated in a much more focused environment. The vehicle also includes a touchscreen display in the center console featuring an intelligent navigation system.
