Eco Factor: Zero-emission vehicle powered by electric engine.

Renault has unveiled the final designs of its upcoming all-electric vehicle, the Fluence Z.E., which makes use of technology from the company’s Japanese partner Nissan. The company is claiming that the all-electric vehicle will have the same cost of ownership as a conventional diesel-powered vehicle.

The Fluence Z.E. is powered by a synchronous electric motor with rotor coil. The motor generates about 70KW of power and a maximum torque of 226Nm. The motor is fueled by a 22KWh electric battery bank. An energy recovery system enables the battery to be charged when the car decelerates.

The vehicle is claimed to have a range of 160km with a top speed of 135kph. The company states that the vehicle will begin production in the first half of 2011 and that the EV should be available in Israel, Denmark and the rest of Europe later that year.
