Our loved Delhi seems to be getting all acclaim possible for its metro rail. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation recently was added to the green list of UN. The green list allows listing in the projects that play significant part in the Clean Development Mechanism under UN’s Framework Convention on Climate Change. Earning carbon credits, the DMRC has become the first of its type to earn such acclamation from UNFCCC.
DMRC received it on the basis of its RBT or regenerating braking technology, which ensures a cleaner environment at the same time earning noticeable revenue. This technology helps in saving energy every time one train pulls a brake and thus helping the train following it to use it.
This project according to Anuj Dayal Chief PRO of DMRC to get this project this acclaim it took several rigorous measures. The project assisted by Japan Carbon Finance Ltd was able to pass the Certified Emission Reduction test and will allow DMRC to earn Rs 1.2 crore every year for 10 years to come.
