Recyced Works of Art: Man Builds Miniature Paris out of trash

Gerard Brion is a Frenchman who uses recycled materials to build amazing works of art. In this case, Brion used everything from concrete blocks to soup cans to make a complete replica of the city of Paris, France. Of course it didn’t happen over night, Brion admits it took him 15 years to build the replica in his garden. Brion is only 29 years old which means he was only a teenager when he started his creation. He reminds me of several other artists I have written about in the past who use things most of us throw away everyday and piece them together to create such interesting and amazing things.

Brion is not unlike Simon Rhodia of Los Angeles’s Watts Towers or Joseph Zoettl of Alabama’s Ave Maria Grotto who both used concrete, glass, scrap metal, wood, and plastic from trash. Of course there is also Niland, California’s Leonard Knight of Salvation Mountain who uses things he finds in the desert to create his magical mountain of trash art. I hope one day I get the opportunity to travel to France to see yet another trash artist’s great works of art. I applaud Gerard for his work and artistic skill and the fact that he is making the most of recycled materials in a really creative way!
