‘Quicksilver’ Retro-Future Scooter fabricated from scrap metal

Nemo Gould’s love for old scooters led him to invent ‘Quicksilver’ Retro-Future Scooter. Only another old-scooter lover would realize why anybody should strip down a mid 1980’s Honda elite 125cc scooter, and totally redesign it with aluminum scrap metal! However, the result is something that is a perfect blend of convenience and reliability of modern engineering like Honda with the class and styling of an old Lambretta.

The sculptor got a lot of support from well-wishers in his pet project. Rich Humphrey provided him with the remains of the old scooter and offered active help with the electrical system. Wendell Jones patiently worked away till the engine was revived and Cameron Platt took photos so that each step of this unique project could be relived later.

Quicksilver has been designed out of the kind of junk that a metal sculptor might possess aplenty: street lamp parts, vacuum cleaner parts, aluminum scrap, lights, neon and parts off an old bomber plane! The dash board panel is yet to get its finishing touches. In the coming weeks, he hopes to have a working nixie tube speedometer. The sculptor is very proud of the purple neon under the ‘hood’ which is one decoration of the scooter and looks quite stunning in the dark.
