Project Neutral: Aiming to make Riverdale, Junction carbon neutral

RiverdaleCarbon neutrality is an ambition every individual in the society has to agree to. If the leaders of the higher hierarchy should take an active step towards a cleaner climate, it would motivate the laymen to adopt the decision and also gain a wide popularity amongst the nearby neighborhood and thus passing on to other regions. We can see the results of two communities who managed to accomplish the task of becoming the first carbon neutral communities. The Junction and Riverdale takes the honor of sharing the prize.

The enthusiastic person behind this project is Karen Nasmith and calls it Project Neutral. The aim is to reduce (or at least neutralize) the amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) and to contribute the idea to broader areas. Evaluating and analyzing the emissions that need to be eliminated is the first major step to be taken. Sean Drygas who heads the campaign in his community of Riverdale says he anticipates using natural renewable resources. The Junction group also started a grassroots environmental group in their Ward 13 along with weighing the options of reduced energy bills, to making “going green” more affordable through bulk purchasing. With more and more people volunteering in this campaign, there’s more possibility in reduction of emissions. This project not only helps clean environment, it also plays a huge role in saving up energy.

Growing science and technology has paved way to improve the current condition of climate neutrality for a better world to live in. When we take a choice on saving our environment we have moved a step further towards social responsibility. Consider using fuel free vehicles or transportation. Take a walk, get on your bicycle. Plant a tree. Use renewable energy sources. That sun is shining bright for us to use it
ultimately. Let us take an effort for a green earth so that our kids can breathe unpolluted air.
