Eco Factor: Sustainable building uses solar panels to provide 40% of domestic hot water needs.
With the advent of technology, architecture can be seen walking the green pavement. Architects and designers across the globe are giving an eco-friendly twist to their designs. Joining the league is the Philippon-Kalt Architects, who have recently given Paris its first building of social housing with solar panels.
The structure designed specially to give roof to the people with low income does not compromise on the eco-friendly aspects. The building, a result of environmental techniques, consists of seventeen social housing units. The solar panel façade traps solar energy to produce enough power to meet with 40% of domestic hot water needs.
The solar water heating system’s efficiency is kept under check via a control system. The double skin façade not only offers complete privacy from the passengers commuting in the Skytrain, but also restricts the noise flow from the Boulevard de la Chapelle.
