Eco Factor: Sustainable Apple campus to incorporate renewable energy sources.
After collecting land in Cupertino, which included 100 acres of land picked up from HP last month for $300 million, Apple has reportedly selected renowned British architect Norman Foster to design the company’s new campus. The news broke from the house of a Spanish Newspaper, which also claims that tunnels will connect both campuses of the Cupertino giant.
The architect is also stated to have some incredible plans for the city, nicknamed “Apple City,” which includes the tunnels to clear the surface area for greenery. The new campus will house engineers and R&D department and will incorporate cutting-edge technology in materials and technologies to harvest renewable energy sources.
The campus is being claimed to be modeled after Masdar, Abu Dhabi, which is considered the first city in the world to ditch cars and carbon emissions entirely.
