Eco Factor: Concept tree structure includes translucent solar panels.

Nissan has unveiled a new solar tree concept at CEATEC 2010, which is a part of the 2030 Zero-emission City proposal that Nissan and some other companies are participating in. The Solar Tree concept is a tree-like structure with three translucent solar panels onboard. The solar panels track the position of the sun for optimal energy generation.

The trees could be deployed locally within the city or in clusters of 1000 units along highways, which could then power 7000 homes with renewable solar energy. The company believes that the solar panels will have an efficiency of about 30 percent, which is much more than the panels being developed today.
