Nissan’s HQ in America: Architecture in tune with Environment

nissans new us hq

Japanese auto maker Nissan, in order to satisfy the car and truck buyers that are immensely concerned to environment is flaunting the ‘green’ features of its $100 million project. The American Headquarters of Nissan is going to be a 10 storey, S-shaped mega project sufficing 1500 employees. Nissan’s facilities engineers are developing the Headquarter to be perfectly in tune with the environment by cutting exhaust emissions.

It’s certain that Nissan will not submit for the US Green Building Council (USGBC) seal of approval. Main features of the project include a restored native wetland including plants like, iris, button bush and rushes, a ‘light harvesting system’ (automatically dimmed lights & shades), sun shades, and parking in the building, preserving additional green space.

One fact worth noticing is that the contractors (Skanska) have recycled almost 350 tons of construction waste. The headquarters would use about 35 percent less energy than a conventionally planned structure. At each work station, air conditioning and heat are regulated through channels.

And, to sum up, greenery surrounds every nook and corner of the building with a passion to reflect the environmental commitment. Indeed, it’s a commendable show of human engineering skills in keeping with the larger cause of environment.
