Manure, once spread on farm fields, pollutes air and water pollution. And cleaning them up is a cumbersome job. Thinking on these lines, Green Mountain Power and the University of Vermont have promoted a new technology, which might clean up manure before it is spread on farm fields. Hence, it will reduce chances of air and water pollution to a large extent.
A Colchester businessman sold the technology. To kill disease-causing bacteria in liquid manure, the technology uses electricity. It removes 20 percent or more of the manure’s phosphorous! This removes the odor from the manure to a great extent. However, the manure retains the composition needed for farmers to use it as fertilizer, according to the experts.
