New compostable, heat-resistant food packaging

Food service packaging is a great concern for the non-biodegradable and toxic landfills. Concerned on these lines, manufacturers have developed a biodegradable heat-resistant coating in food service packaging. This can be a good eco-friendly alternative to petroleum-based resins.

Easing reliance on increasingly volatile petroleum markets, Cereplast designed the new resin. It is made using renewable resources, including starch and other degradable components, and even poly lactic acid.

The produced coating has a heat resistance of 220° (F). Not just that! It is also fully compostable in commercial and municipal composting facilities.
