New and much greener way of changing Green Waste into fuel

new process turns forest waste into biocrude

Burning will not be the only way out to get rid of that garden waste. If Australian scientists from CSIRO and Monash University are to be believed, a new concentrated bio crude that they have developed by changing the chemical process of the bio fuel, could easily replace petrol and diesel requirements at least in the local areas for transport. CSIRO Forest Biosciences scientist Dr Steven Loffler explains:

This makes it practical and economical to produce bio-crude in local areas for transport to a central refinery, overcoming the high costs and greenhouse gas emissions otherwise involved in transporting bulky green wastes over long distances.

Vouched for being the most stable and eco-friendly friendly way of bio crude ever achieved, the scientists are hopeful that using low value waste such as forest thinning, crop residue, waste paper and garden waste which are generally land fillers or simply burnt could be potential source of the new Furafuel. Lignocellulose, a renewable and green house neutral chemical found in trees has been favoured by scientists as a potential raw material for bio-ethanol. The Furafuel bio crude oil process also gives the ever going food versus fuel debate a new dimension. Till date bio fuel has been generated from grain, corn and sugar.
