Eco Factor: Rapid charger for EV charges batteries in 30 minutes.

NEC Corp has collaborated with Portland General Electric Co to start testing a new rapid charger for electric cars that has been developed by Takasago Ltd. The new charger is based on the standard promoted by Japan’s CHAdeMO Council, according to which the maximum voltage is 500V and the maximum direct current is 125A.

The charger provides an output of 50KW, which makes it possible to recharge electric car batteries to 80 percent capacity in just 20 to 30 minutes.
