Modern technique to turn milk cartons and plastic glasses in to planters

People often dismiss what they do not understand as crazy madness that is meaningless and worthless. But that does not necessarily mean that whatever people do is useless. Michael Faraday was laughed at when he discovered the principle of electromagnetism and actually made the first ever model of a generator. But toady the same invention is hailed and used across the planet. Industrial Design student Mike Hahn has created what he calls a Re-Blowmolding machine which many call as a crazy machine. But it really is a lot more than just a crazy machine.

The name refers to the fact that the machine takes #2 plastic bottles that were blown into molds in factories and reshapes them using heat and air. Essentially it is an oven combined with a molding apparatus and air injection. The plastic is heated evenly all the way around and a two part mold is then forced around the flexible bottle. When air is injected in to the bottle through the spout the plastic fills the mold and cools very quickly. This means that the machine takes something considered disaster to the planet and converts it in to something that helps grow green!

Hahn is taking milk bottles that he’s collected from local coffee shops and transforming them into hanging planters. While this may not be the most appealing set of planters that you will see they more than serve a noble cause. Anything that eliminates the throwing away of plastic is always welcome and something that actually takes it a step further and makes it green is an absolute miracle. In this regard Hahn has achieved tremendous success.
