Eco Factor: Electric assist bicycle generates electricity from wind.

Auto designer Thierry Dumaine has come up with an interesting electric assist bike concept that generates renewable energy when it moves. Called the “Miss Courant D’air”, the bicycle uses three large fans, two in the wheels and one in the frame. As the bicycle moves, wind makes these three fans turn, which are then connected to a generator to produce electricity.

Generated renewable electricity is stored in an onboard battery, which utilizes the energy to power a small in-wheel electric motor. The frame of the bike has been designed to be made from a translucent material that allows the user to see the transmissions.
