Methanol plant shows successful generation of cheaper green energy

pwe

Keeping in mind the need to avoid fossil fuels much work has been done on renewable energy resources like solar energy, Hydropower and so on.

As a major concern for production of clean green energy, Power plant at point Lisas, Trinidad, has put forth an effort to replace natural gas with methanol for energy production.

It is special for environment because Methanol is a clean burning fuel, containing no sulphur or nitrogenous materials and produces fewer emissions as compared to the natural gas.

The plant is equipped with standard gas turbines capable of 8.5 MW productions. You need approximately One million tonnes of methanol to generate about 250 MW of clean energy.

At present, this modification to use methanol is supplying electricity to two plants under MHTL.

If you have knowledge about Trinidad and Tobago, it’s counted among leading methanol producers and form best site for such a project. But, much work is needed to diversify the use of methanol.

As not only cleaner, but also cheaper source of energy, methanol is a good alternative leading all the way to green energy.

It may be a delayed step. But, finally on the right track.
