Mercedes Roadster concept combines retro style with modernistic sustainability

Green MercedesThe Mercedes Benz Silberpfiel or better known as the Silver Arrows, were those nigh ubiquitous sporting cars with a sleek, aerodynamic frame and a sprightly demeanor, long seen in the 30s racing circuit. And now they have certainly made a comeback (at least conceptually) after 80 years to make their mark in the sustainable scheme of things.

Contrived by designer Ali Khanzadi, the futuristic ‘retro’ roadster will be powered by an advanced electric and magnetic system (that will be used in brakes also). But the main technological prowess of this two seater vehicle would be those conspicuously hubless wheels. They will feature a central tilting angle that will provide maximum surface contact with the roads, especially, when swerving through tight corners. Thus, the effect of skidding can be nullified, with enhanced controls and steering. Other components such as wheel links will be incorporated with a Magnetorheological fluid, which has the capacity to regulate the stiffness and shock.

Coming to the sustainable part, the light weight body of this car will be made from recycled plastic and carbon fiber, while the chassis element will be made from sturdy aluminum and carbon fiber. So, if successfully implemented, we can surely come across a vehicle that is infused with modern technology, albeit with ‘green’ considerations.
