Eco Factor: Low-emission car to run on a hybrid engine.

Mercedes-Benz is planning to launch the next S-Class with a plug-in hybrid model. The car will also see improvements in its weight and aerodynamic properties, which coupled with the hybrid drivetrain, allow the vehicle to boast a fuel efficiency of 80mpg and emit less than 100g/km of CO2.

The car manufacturer has, however, ruled out the possibility of an all-electric model, since it believes that its customers expect a certain range and a level of comfort, safety and space in its cars, which might not be possible in an all-electric vehicle built on today’s technology.
