Eco Factor: Pickup concept with DualX E-Drive drive solution that makes it both a plug-in and full-hybrid vehicle.
Mercedes-Benz Technology has recently unveiled the Reporter pickup concept study at the 63rd IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover. Featuring something called the DualX E-Drive drive solution, the Reporter is both a plug-in and full-hybrid vehicle with an all-wheel drive system. Powered by a 70 kW electric motor, this green beauty can reach a top speed of 130 km/h and has a range of around 300 km.
The electric motor of this green vehicle powers the rear axle, which is coupled with an independent 1.2 liter, 4-cylinder natural gas combustion engine with a gas exhaust turbocharger driving the front wheels. It also includes a “Solar Top,” which is not like a conventional solar panel though, but generates enough energy to power a handful of electronics like air-conditioning etc.
The The MBtech Group has rolled out the Reporter in three driving modes – an “eco” mode for emissions-free city driving, “4range” for long-range economical driving and “4dynamic” that maximizes the power available for all-wheel drive performance.
